Dr. Teodoro Bottiglieri is an associate professor of biomedical studies at Baylor University, and a senior research scientist at the Baylor University Medical Center Institute of Metabolic Disease in Dallas, Texas. He earned a master’s and doctorate in neurochemistry from the University of London.
His research program focuses on understanding the role of homocysteine and sulfur amino acid metabolism in the central nervous system. The research conducted in Dr. Bottiglieri’s laboratory has application to many disease states, including preventing neurological complications associated with treatment of childhood leukemia, preventing central nervous system complications associated with HIV infection and understanding the role of methylation in depression and dementia.
Dr. Bottiglieri’s research has been published in numerous prestigious medical journals. He has contributed over 85 publications in peerreviewed journals and to several textbooks. He lectures frequently in the U.S. and is active in a number of professional organizations including the Society of Neuroscience, the American Society of Neurochemistry, the American Society for Clinical Nutrition and the American Academy of Neurology.
